On the 22nd October, 2024, the Minister of Labour and Employment Relations commissioned the newly constructed Public Employment Centre at Konongo-Odumasi located behind the Assembly which started at 10:00am prompt.

The commissioning of the project is to signify the completion of the project and lunch the commencement of operations of the facility.

The government’s innovative programme, Public Employment Centres, will contribute significantly to the development of critical skills for national economic transformation, minimize skills mismatch and reduce unemployment.

The Minister for Employment and Labour Relation, Mr Ignatius Baffour Awuah, said this when he commissioned the Konongo Odumase Public Employment Centre (PEC) on Tuesday, 22nd October, 2024 at Asante Akim Central Municipality in the Ashanti Region.

He said the PEC would enable job-seekers to study emerging trends, acquire skills in high demands and adjust their career paths to meet the demands of the world.

The facility will enable the Labour Department to provide quality services to employers, job seekers and training institutions.

Mr. Baffour Awuah indicates that PEC provides avenues for job seekers to make inquiries about the availability of job vacancies, post their career profiles on the Ghana Labour Market Information System (GLMIS) and interact with employers.

The Minister presented a pick-up vehicle to the Labour Department to enable to organize outreach programmes, undertake job canvassing and engage stakeholders for quality service delivery.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) MR. Robert Kwakye, stated that the vision of the government was to reduce unemployment, adding that PEC would devise appropriate policies to address unemployment issues using available local opportunities.

Other dignitaries present at the commissioning were the Hon. MP, MCE, MCD, traditional leaders, Heads of Departments and institutions, Party Executives-NPP, Assembly Members and all Convenors.
